CBD Basics

Nearly everyone has heard of CBD (cannabidiol), and a majority have tried CBD for themselves. CBD is the second most prevalent active compound in Cannabis flower (marijuana). While CBD is an essential component of Medical Cannabis, it is also derived directly from the hemp plant, a cousin of conventional cannabis. Hemp is defined as any part of the cannabis sativa plant with no more than 0.3% of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the mind-altering substance in marijuana). Unlike THC, CBD does not cause a "high" by itself. According to a report from the World Health Organization, "In humans, CBD exhibits no effects indicative of any abuse or dependence potential…. To date, there is no evidence of public health related problems associated with the use of pure CBD."

In 2018, the U.S. Congress passed and signed into law the Agriculture Improvement Act. This law removed hemp and hemp derived products from the federal Controlled Substances Act, effectively legalizing CBD if it comes from hemp. In the same year, a CBD oil product was approved by the Food and Drug Administration called Epidiolex. It's approved to treat certain types of Epilepsy and is being studied as a treatment for a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to, Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, diabetes, Traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, and anxiety.

Common CBD Oils

Often, you'll see CBD sold in tincture bottles in the form of edible oil-based liquids. Oils are an efficiently binding and shelf stable carrier for CBD, which makes manufacture and distribution incredibly low cost. The main issue that nearly all CBD users find with these is, the dose. CBD has a very low bioavailability, 2%-12% averaging about 6% for most people. This leads to the need for very high dose requirements. The majority of CBD products come with a recommended dose of 20-50mg, whereas clinical doses to reach desired effects are between 600-1200mg for oral applications. The current CBD market is not supporting the needs of consumers.

So, what in the world is Nano-CBD?

In essence, Nano-CBD is a highly processed and refined form of CBD extract that is significantly more bioavailable than conventional CBD oils.  With a reported figure of being 17 times stronger than CBD on its own, this makes for an easy method for reaching clinically significant doses, which most CBD products fall short of. Currently we offer a water based, tincture-like concentrate liquid that is sold by the fluid ounce and Infused products.

Not all Nano-CBD is the same!
